I love women, I really do, big or small, young or old, I love them all! I have as long as I can remember, and hope I always will…

However, I’m not sure that when I’m accused of being a sexist this will be a great defense. The problem is that all the things that I universally love about women appear to be physical attributes. If they weren’t then I may as well just have said that I love people… and I don’t! At best when given the benefit of the doubt most people I only vaguely like. This vague liking is quickly destroyed when someone starts talking about homeopathy, or alternative medicine in general (please could we rename this mainstream charlatanism instead?!), or vaccines, or corona virus. Now, whenever I meet said people I have to remember their weird insanity and desperately try not to talk about it! Worse, it is almost certainly the subject they most want to talk about.

So when I say that I love women (I don’t normally actually say this, although it is true) I can’t possibly mean that I love them as actual people. The people that I love are witty and challenging and intelligent. These are the people that I love to spend time with. If I had to guess about 50% of the people like this that I know are women (maybe a little more).

Personally, I think that a much better defense is to point out that my best friend is a woman. Although people seem rather dismissive of this too.
